Education and Learning

Education and Learning

Education has a close relationship with learning and it also draws a
distinction between learning and education. Learning is a process that results
in more or less permanent modification of behavior as a result of practice or
experience. But any change in the behavior of human being resulting from
physical or social maturation cannot be considered as learning, so these are
excluded from the purview of learning.

In contrast, education is concerned with the harmonious development of human
ability and powers according to the needs of the individual and society, while
learning results in specific modification of behavior, education seeks its
mold the entire personality and takes a global view of an individual’s
abilities. Another distinction between learning and education is that while
learning can be positive or negative, education is always positive from the
point of view of social values.
