Rainbow baby is the word for a child born to a family who has had a previous miscarriage, lost a child at birth or in infancy. These subsequent pregnancies can bring “feelings of anxiety, guilt and even fear” but can also bring “immense joy, reflection, healing and mixed emotions”.
